Application: use for inflammatory diseases of the upper respiratory tract, genitourinary system, liver, gall bladder and pancreas. Licorice root tea is drunk for cough, with bronchitis, bronchial asthma and other inflammatory diseases of the upper respiratory tract. It is used in gynecology in the treatment of inflammatory diseases and erosion. Licorice root treats gastritis, peptic ulcer, constipation, inflammation of the genitourinary system and joints, rheumatism, kidney pathology and decreased function of the adrenal cortex, diseases of the eyes, nose, ears and inflammatory processes in the oral cavity. Licorice root is also used as adjunctive therapy for Addison's disease and diabetes. Externally, licorice rhizome is used for dermatitis, psoriasis, lupus, eczema, pemphigus, neurodermatitis, dermatitis, allergic manifestations and other skin diseases.
Method of application: Pour 1 teaspoon of chopped rhizomes with 1 cup (200 ml) boiling water, leave for 15 minutes, and take it warm 3 times a day.
Contraindications: pregnancy and lactation, individual intolerance. Licorice root preparations increase blood pressure, which must be considered when treating patients with clear signs of hypertension. An adverse combination of licorice preparations with agents for the treatment of heart failure is the risk of arrhythmia.
